The programme responds to the reality that disabled and chronically ill artists are often excluded from conventional networking spaces. It aims to bridge this gap by creating structured, accessible opportunities for dialogue between artists and curators, programmers, and arts professionals interested in inclusive practice.

Chronic Connections consists of two core elements. The first is a speed curating networking event, where artists meet participating curators in 15-minute sessions to introduce themselves and share their practice. Following this, artists are invited to provide feedback on the experience and are matched with a curator based on their interests, needs, and working context.

The second element is a one-to-one studio visit or meeting, taking place between each artist and their matched curator. This provides a more in-depth opportunity to discuss work, exchange ideas, and develop ongoing professional relationships.

Throughout the programme, Chronic Collective and FSAS remain available to participants for support, guidance, and accessibility needs, ensuring the process remains responsive and care-led.

Chronic Connections aims to build meaningful capacity for sick and disabled artists by fostering sustained dialogue, visibility, and networking opportunities with curators committed to equitable and accessible arts practice.

Across 2023, participating curators included Lisa Crowne, Michael Hill, Sara Muthi, and Roisín Power Hackett. In 2024, the programme expanded with Clodagh Boyce, Iarlaith Ní Fheorais, Maolíosa Boyle, and Michael Hill. The most recent iteration in 2025 included Diana Bamimeke, Eve Woods, Mark O’Gorman, and Mary Conlon.

The inaugural 2023 programme brought together artists Aising Dunne, Ciana Fitzgerald, Emily Waszak, Léann Herlihy, Michelle Hall, Olivia Normile, Paul Roy, and Sarah Devereux, establishing the foundation for a care-led model of professional exchange between disabled artists and curators.

In 2024, the programme included Keely McLavin, Lauren Martin, Magda Biedka, Niamh Gibbons, Paul McGrane, Róisín Coyle, Tobi Balogun, and Tree McCaul, further developing its emphasis on accessible formats for dialogue, feedback, and studio-based exchange.

The 2025 cohort continued this evolving programme with artists Jessica Conway, Anthony Cullen, Helen Horgan, Claire McAteer, Martina O’Connor, Venus Patel, James Wellwood, and Indigo Woolfrey.
